Sedation

Many patients accept that while visits to the dentist aren’t exactly fun, they are a part of life. At Dental Bar, we understand that the idea of visiting a dentist is enough to fill patients with anxiety. In fact, 15 percent of the population in the United States experience some form of dental anxiety. Fortunately, sedation dentistry, which ranges from inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to IV sedation, is an option to help ease anxiety and make you feel more comfortable during your visit. If you’re a patient struggling with dental anxiety, our team of accredited and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified professionals will be sure to discuss the right solution for you.

The type of sedation that you receive at our office varies based on your level of anxiety and the type of exam or procedure you are having. We offer complimentary nitrous oxide and local anesthesia for all procedures if you are a candidate. We also offer IV sedation, also known as conscious sedation. IV sedation is a middle ground; it doesn’t fully put you to sleep, but it does make you less aware of what is going on around you during your procedure or treatment. While some forms of sedation are inhaled, like nitrous oxide, IV sedation is administered intravenously through a vein. It works quickly, it’s easy to adjust the dose given, and the sedative has a long period of amnesia, meaning you won’t remember what happened during your dental visit or treatment. Sedation will allow you to experience a pain-free visit in a comfortable and safe environment, under one roof!
